KONZERT
BLOODLIGHTS (EX-GLUECIFER)
Samstag, 08.05.2010 · 20:30 Uhr

After five records and ten years of excistense Captain Poons former band Gluecifer fell apart in 2005, due
to the lack of motivation among certain members.
It took the Captain about two seconds to figure out what to do next. Forming a new band was an obvious
decision.
The new band is called Bloodlights.
The name describes a self experienced phenomenon of seeing red blisters before passing out, often in
conjunction with endless touring, lack of sleep and a lifestyle some people may consider unhealthy.
In January 2006 after a long period with intense songrwriting, along with finishing the whole Gluecifer
chapter, Captain Poon felt it was time to take the next step, and find the right line-up for his new band.
This went a lot smoother than expected.
He teamed up with ex-Amulet drummer Jonas Thire for a few rehearsals. The chemistry between the two
of them was good, and soon after they recruited a guy named Ron Elly on bass.
After being on the lookout for a singer for a while, Poon decided to take the step up and handle all
frontman duties by himself. With another great guitarplayer by his side named Howie B, the Bloodlights
line-up was completed in April 2006.
The band has been working in the studio during the summer, making demos for their debut album.
In the middle of the process Bloodlights was dragged into some premature attention as a Norwegian
movie producer got in touch with Captain Poon. After hearing the song “One eye open” he wanted it as
the main track for the movie called ”Fritt vilt” and a video and radiosingle was released. The cinema
release became a massive success in Norway, and of course this has given the band a lot of extra attention
in their homecountry early in the process. Song and video can be checked out on

Early critics has mentioned Bloodlights as a no bullshit rock'n'roll band, but with stronger melodies than
Poon's previous outfit.
Poon says "It's hard to describe your own music and your band, and even compare it to what you've done
earlier. People will always come up with a lot of stuff I didn't even think about when I wrote the songs
anyway. From my point of view I never wanted to make a new Gluecifer, but I wanted to keep doing the
only thing I care about, playing rock'n'roll, and do things my own way"
Infinite hours in the rehearsalroom, Bloodlights has become a tight unit with a large stock of material, and
are ready to get the record done.
Poon says: "I've never been this well prepared before any studiosession. The band has been working hard,
and I've been spending all my time for the last 18 months writing a shitload of material. We're doing
everything we can to make sure this is gonna be great record. I know better than anyone else that a half
assed product with my own signature on it is gonna be the death of my carreer as a musician. I'm not
willing to let that happen, enough said."
Bloodlights are currently in Berlin, recording their debut album with Phil Caivano, ex-guitarist of US
eastcoast rockers Monster Magnet, in the producer seat. Captain Poon and Caivano got to know each other
a few years back when Gluecifer and Monster Magent were touring Europe, and are really excited about
working together.
No certain releasedates are set, but the band is hoping to get the record out in the middle of May.
